Flowers of Ravello

Artist Wayne Hill regards Ravello as a magical escape high above the town of Amalfi on the Amalfi coast. The tourist tour buses cannot navigate up the switchbacks, so there are fewer day visitors. Villa Rufolo is the masterwork in Ravello's extensive repertoire of historic showpieces.  At the height of its importance in the 13th century it boasted "more rooms than there are days in the year". The terraces of Villa Rufolo are designed around the signature cypress seen here, framed by flowers in the foreground and the distant coast to the east. Why would you ever want to leave?  Image # 06824.
